Too Damn High

Former New York candidate for mayor and governor Jimmy McMillan was at UMass this week. He is best known for his militant rent control advocacy campaigns under the slogan, "The Rent is Too Damn High!" McMillan is currently doing a nationwide tour of college campuses promoting his latest cause, "The Tuition is Too Damn High!" The students didn't seem to take McMillan too seriously, but they definitely approved of his educational cost-cutting message.

Of course it is important to note that for all his good natured humor McMillan is calling for price controls, a policy that has failed in every market it's been tried.

Looks like they have most of the new sidewalks installed in Holyoke's historic Veteran's Park.

Skylights in the new Amherst Survival Center due to open December 3rd.

In Amherst I came upon this old and fading portrait while helping a friend clean out a cellar whose contents hadn't been touched in decades and whose previous owner was dead.

A close up. Who are they? My friend had no idea where the painting came from or who is in it.

Good news for Valley poetry geeks.

A sexy and psychedelic new video from Northampton's Lord Russ.

If only that were so. Then I would be responding to this from my mansion.

The tuition is too high because the government subsidizes it. The tuition is too high because students are forced to pay for useless offices like ALANA.
