Markey vs. Kennedy

Some of the major players in Northampton politics have come out in support of our vile incumbent U.S. Senator Ed Markey, as you can see for yourself in this dull video that also features State Auditor Suzanne Bump, Rosenberg disciple Jo Commerford and Mayor Narkiewicz. The video is by Northampton Open Media, which apparently is not open enough to allow comments to be posted on it.

Markey is being challenged by Joe Kennedy, a congressional lightweight whose only prior claim to fame was a TV appearance where he either went wild with the lip balm or had just completed a sex act.

I am a registered independent, so I can vote in the Democratic primary. A voter in Massachusetts who is registered with a political party can vote only in that party's primary, but if a voter is unaffiliated with a political party, he or she may vote in the primary of his or her choice. Of course I might choose instead to vote in the Republican primary, but here in the cobalt blue Bay State, it is hard for Republicans to field any candidate for some races, nevermind having enough candidates to have primary contests.

If I do vote in the Democrat primary, I will vote for the drooly Representative Kennedy. That is because Markey is legislatively aggressive in an ideological way that Kennedy is not. For example, Markey is a co-sponsor of that socialist wet dream, the so-called Green New Deal.

Kennedy, on the other hand, would be a senatorial newbie if elected, with no seniority and too little clout to succeed at doing anything too bad. In other words, his inexperience and incompetence means Kennedy would be less effective than Markey in advancing the Leftist agenda. That's how we commonsense people have to vote here in Massachusetts. In other parts of the country people sometimes have to vote for the lesser of two evils, but in Massachusetts both candidates are routinely so bad that you have to base your vote solely on damage control.

Have you heard about the Massachusetts legislation to ban the word bitch? Very bad news, not just for 1st Amendment reasons, but because it is a possible indicator that Maura Healey may be anticipating a run for higher office.

A too often overlooked journalistic gem in our Valley is Frederick Hurst's Af-Am Point of View.

Hurst (above left with State Rep. Bud Williams) is more of a political insider than he likes to seem, which sometimes makes his paper a good source of insights into behind the scenes drama. Hurst has been most closely identified over the years with Bud Williams, a longtime Springfield City Councilor who is now a State Representative. Therefore tongues are wagging over the following swipe against his old buddy in the October issue.

Malo Brown, chief of staff for Rep. Williams, is a City Council candidate who was criticized for his allegedly intimidating and improper behavior at the polls during last month's municipal primary. Francis Keough is the longtime fixer and felon from the Mayor Mike Albano era whose name is synonymous with Springfield's corrupt culture of politics and who remains a shadowy but influential power player. Speculation is rampant as to why Hurst has publicly linked his (former?) friend with the disgraced Keough.

Strolling down Wright Avenue this morning, I came upon a big, ugly spider.
