Last week I took the woodland path to my quaint New England polling place and was voter #117
The people have spoken - goddam them.
At least one Northampton activist advocated voting for a food item which in many ways was superior to the people who were actually on the ballot.
Incredibly, almost a week after Election Day, the national outcomes in key races are still undetermined.
However, at the local and state level there wasn't a surprise in sight as the usual suspects slithered into office by absurd margins. A quick overview of the carnage:
Congress
Two good guys ran to represent our Valley's north and south seats in Congress. Unfortunately, the two bad guys won.
Governor
God bless Libertarian Kevin Reed, who was so unknown that the TV stations didn't even have a picture of him to use in announcing his defeat with only 2% of the vote. None the less, Reed provided politically homeless people like myself someone to vote for. With dizzy leftist Healey now in charge, expect even Democrats to soon begin feeling nostalgic for Charlie Baker.
State Treasurer
Christina Crawford (above) was the political unknown running as a Libertarian against do-nothing incumbent Deborah Goldberg. Crawford was defeated by Goldberg 77% to 23%. However, that lopsided loss still generated 509,016 votes and enough to qualify the Libertarian Party for equal ballot status with the Democrats and Republicans as a political party officially recognized by the state. This will make it easier for Libertarians to run in the future.
State Auditor
Almost always the most boring statewide race, this year's Auditor contest for once had a little drama. After suicidal MassGOPers drove their popular Governor Charlie Baker practically out of the party, Baker repaid their insults by refusing to endorse or campaign for any statewide Republican candidates except one - Anthony Amore (above with Baker and Bill Weld) for State Auditor. It turned out that Baker's backing did no good, as Amore was soundly defeated by a faceless mediocrity whose only known qualification was that she was a Democrat. In this state, that's often the only qualification you need.
Hampshire County Sheriff
Two whining social workers challenged the outstanding incumbent Patrick Cahillane this year. After he mopped the floor with both of them in the primary, one of them insisted on annoying everyone by launching a write-in campaign. She was properly humiliated at the polls.
Governor's Council
John Comerford (no relation to the Northampton leftist) was old, fat, grumpy - and right on every issue. Alas, a clueless social justice warrior defeated him.
State Representative - Southwick District
Local Democrats once again weep in frustration over their inability to defeat the most dynamic member of our local legislative delegation.
Question One
People who make a million dollars per year are usually business owners. Know what business owners do when their costs go up due to things like rising taxes? They pass their extra tax burden on to the poor and middle class by raising the price of their goods and services! Pay up you suckers who thought you were sticking it to the rich. You got played again!
Question Four
You mean people who sneak into our country should be rewarded with privileges previously reserved for citizens? The answer to the problem of illegals driving without licenses is really quite simple - arrest them and deport them immediately. Unfortunately, Massachusetts had to prove that we have some of the stupidest voters in the country, but we already knew that.

Another election cycle in which the two major parties offer the typical independent voter the usual, unsatisfactory choice between the lesser of two evils. Hold your nose, swallow the poison, and begrudgingly vote for the candidate from the tribe that is just out of touch over the candidate from the tribe that has lost its mind.
