President George W. Bush sent me a Christmas card in 2001, for reasons I was never able to determine. Maybe Karl Rove told him he should try to get in good with bloggers? Or then maybe it was just a mistake. In any case, I never got another one. Too bad, because it was really fancy and printed on the most expensive paper. Here's what the front looked like.
Perhaps the reason I never got another card had something to do with my failure to respond to an invitation I later received to attend a fundraiser in Boston that Bush was putting on for then gubernatorial candidate Mitt Romney. As you can see, it cost a mere five grand to attend.
Once I turned down that ritzy lunch, I never heard from President Bush again.
Former State Senator Stan Rosenberg and his beloved boi-toi Bryon Hefner sent me a card once, but their relationship was on the rocks before I could get another.
Carolers outside Iconica in Northampton.
Once upon a time Northampton had a tree they decorated each year in Pulaski Park.
It was stupidly cut down during the last "renovation" of the park.
I was glad to see these UMass workers decorating the tree by the campus pond for the first time in years.
It looks nice.
MERRY CHRISTMAS

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!

Merry Christmas and thank you for your entertaining and frequently educational blog. Since Larry's passing you are a lone reminder some reason thrives in the Happy Valley.
Best wishes for the new year!
You too, man!
