Multi-media artist and local historian Dann Vazquez has made a major contribution to Northampton's local history collection by donating a complete set of the late, lamented local publication V-Mag to the Forbes Library.
For those of you who may not have been around in the late 1990's, V-Mag was a little magazine that was distributed free throughout the Pioneer Valley beginning in 1997 and which eventually went out of business in 2002. It was sort of an Arts and Entertainment magazine, but far more eclectic than that description implies, with frequent forays into all kinds of subjects, including taking potshots at local politicos.
Not all the politicians appreciated their political commentary. Former Hamp Mayor M. Clare Higgins once denounced it as "a scummy little magazine" - a comment that earned her the cover.
Anyway, take a walk down memory lane - or discover the forgotten past - by heading over to the Forbes Library and taking a look at these treasured chronicles of life in our Valley. You can check out a sample copy here from the Internet Archive.

That's where I got this "Box of Water."
It's supposed to be better than a bottle of water for the following reasons:
I tried it, and ecological virtues aside, it tastes like water.
