I recently wrote about an obnoxiously "woke" wall mural in Springfield. Here is a similarly stupid message on an electrical box in Northampton outside the post office.
Really? Perhaps there should also be another sign painted somewhere saying that the sky is yellow or the sun is blue. Those messages would be no less scientifically inaccurate than the statement above. You can dress anyway you want, but there are undeniably only two sexes, male and female. That is not an opinion, political or otherwise, but a mere statement of scientific fact, as utterly irrefutable as the sun is yellow and the sky is blue.
The walkway leading to the entrance to the Not Bread Alone soup kitchen in Amherst.
The Walmart in Westfield.
The 99 Restaurant in Westfield where "kids eat for free if the Red Sox win."
In the Pine Point section of Springfield last week I noticed that the old art gallery of Richard Doyle the Twig Painter has been turned into a residential apartment of some sort.
The art gallery sign has been painted over in black, but close observers will note that a small square was left unpainted, preserving Doyle's signature from the original sign, which he had painted himself.
Of course I couldn't be in the Point and not stop in at Tony's Pizza.
One of Tony's competitors, Red Rose Pizza, got a visit last week from Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports, shown here with owner Rita Caputo. Portnoy has been a true friend of Western Mass businesses, making a major financial contribution to the Miss Florence Diner last year to help it survive the irrational and ineffective covid lockdowns.
Of course I choose the brand manufactured (for the moment) in Springfield Massachusetts.
Thirty-nine freakin years ago? No way!
Paul McCartney was in Boston last week.
