Most of the street signs in Springfield (and elsewhere in the Valley) are these cheap, green and white metal affairs atop an aluminum pole.
However, once upon a time street signs were substantial, black cast iron structures, a few of which can still be found on the back streets of Pine Point, if you poke around.
The problem is they are starting to rust at the joints, meaning that if these roadside sentinels don't get taken down and replaced by the cheap green signs, eventually they are likely to rust out to the point of falling over.
Nothing lasts.
