Last week some tents sprouted on the lawn outside the Student Union at UMass.
It was an attempt to spark some of the pro-Hamas foolishness that has gripped other campuses recently. However, the next morning the University announced at 7am that unless the tents were removed, the police would be called in to remove them.
By 9am, all of the tents were gone voluntarily.
Perhaps institutions of higher learning elsewhere could learn from the example set by the administrators at UMass - If you nip these incidents in the bud right when it starts, things will turn out best for all concerned with no disruption to campus life.
UPDATE - Sadly, yesterday a hate rally reformed and police were forced to break it up. This morning all signs of the haters from the night before were completely gone.
Well done.
